Attila Konnyu: Auction at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club

Mar-a-Lago Club, Palm Beach, Florida

December 2015

About the Event

Attila Konnyu’s multidisciplinary practice originated in television and film before evolving into the realms of architecture and visual art. His work demonstrates a sustained engagement with narrative, spatial perception, and material abstraction, often intertwining autobiographical elements with broader existential and philosophical themes.

In 2013, Konnyu relocated to the United States and co-founded a gallery in Palm Beach in the mid-2010s. Since then, he has become a prominent figure in South Florida’s vibrant art scene. He now resides by the ocean in Palm Beach and works from his studio in nearby Delray Beach, where the surrounding natural elements continue to shape his sensibility.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Konnyu moves fluidly between contemporary abstract painting, gestural abstraction, and installation art - grounding each piece in emotional resonance and philosophical inquiry.

His body of work has attracted the attention of notable private collectors, including members of the Kennedy and Trump families, signaling his growing presence within elite collecting circles.

Konnyu’s work was prominently featured at a high-profile benefit auction held at the Mar-a-Lago Club during the annual Lady in Red Gala. With the endorsement of philanthropist and cultural patron Lois Pope - whose influence spans multiple spheres of American civic life - Konnyu was introduced to a distinguished audience of collectors, socialites, and art world stakeholders.

The event drew strong interest in his work, reinforcing his relevance within spaces where cultural production intersects with high-society patronage.

Konnyu’s visual language is defined by a contemplative monumentality. His compositions, rooted in personal memory, gesture toward shared experiences of endurance, transformation, and hope.

These thematic concerns lend his practice both intimate depth and universal scope - offering viewers a quiet but powerful encounter with presence, persistence, and the unseen.
