Attila Konnyu:
Contemporary Exhibition in Venice, Italy
Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello – Venice Glass Week, Venice, Italy
September, 2025

About the Event
Gestures of Boundlessness brings Attila Konnyu’s latest large-scale paintings to the cultural heart of Italy. Presented during the prestigious Venice Glass Week, one of Europe’s leading multidisciplinary art events, the exhibition marks a new dialogue between painting, material, and space.
Konnyu’s practice, unfolding over more than two decades, rests on a simple yet profound essence: painting as presence, movement, and transformation. His canvases do not merely depict, they breathe. Pigment, gesture, and space merge into resonant surfaces where viewers discover their own inner landscapes.
The Venice Glass Week, a platform honoring experimentation with material, provides fertile ground for this encounter. Just as glass is shaped by fire and breath, Konnyu’s paintings reveal matter as a living process never fixed, always becoming. Amidst Venice’s centuries of ornament and tradition, the works unfold into a quiet yet powerful conversation with the city: fluidity beside weight, silence beside grandeur, breath beside stone.
Konnyu’s artistic journey bridges continents and cultures. Born and rooted in Europe, he has earned recognition in the United States while continuously drawing inspiration from Asian philosophies and aesthetics. This global perspective positions him as a distinctive voice in today’s international art scene. His solo and group exhibitions span from Budapest to Berlin, Miami to Hong Kong, with collectors ranging from major European patrons to private collections in London and New York.
By bringing his art to Venice, Konnyu invites audiences into an experience of boundlessness where painting ceases to be an object and becomes a passage; where material is not an end but a beginning. In dialogue with the centuries-old Venetian tradition of glass, these works extend the conversation toward painting as a medium of transformation, transparency, and light.

The Gestures of Boundlessness
The painting of Attila Konnyu arises from the pure experience of presence and movement. His works do not illustrate or depict: the surfaces of the canvas become resonances, where pigment, breath, and the motion of the hand dissolve into a single process. This organic flow evokes the hidden layers of consciousness, where body and space unfold as extensions of one another.
The artist’s gestures lead into spaces that do not enclose but open: his surfaces do not imprison the viewer within structures, but instead allow an experience of boundlessness. The works are not objects but passages - subtle labyrinths in which the viewer encounters their own inner world.
In the city of Venice, at the cultural heart of magnificent Italy, Konnyu’s works create a unique dialogue. Alongside the weight and ornamentation of the past, they bring silence, fluidity, and pure presence. In this encounter, the works do not conform but resonate, reinterpreting the aura of the historical space: as if painting itself became a form of breathing, connecting body, consciousness, and the city.
